Yuru Chara Grand Prix 2020 THE FINAL

Alas!  At last, this day has come.  This is the last voting in the 10-year history of Yuru Chara Grand Prix.  Though it had been suspicious that this event could not be held due to the pandemic, the executive comittee decided to hold it with strict measures to prevent the spread of COVID19.  It was regrettable that we are allowed neither to touch yuru chara mascots nor to hug them this year, but we were happy to meet them in person.  Takata no Yume-chan (the white fairy in the above picture) from Rikuzentakata City, Iwate Prefecture, was selected for the Grand Prix from among the 397 groups.  In 2012, she was created to support the reconstruction of the city devastated by the Great East Japan Earthquake.  The star on her head is filled with light of hope and guides children to a safe place.  She flies freely with the wings on her back.  She delivers dreams and happiness to everyone from her camellia bag.  Her ears are modeled after pine trees in Takada Matsubara, an  ex-scenic spot.  Her victory delights and encourages people in her hometown, eventually spurring the reconstruction in the coastal area of Iwate Prefecture.    This result is very significant  in Yuru Chara Grand Prix that started in 2011, when the Great East Japan Earthquake occurred.  Thank you so much for all yuru chara mascots, all persons  concerned and all yuru chara fans.  The webmaster is expecting some new events of yuru chara mascots.
