Ankimo, Liver of Monkfish

The webmaster bought ankimo at a fish shop in Ikebukuro, Tokyo.   It is one of the winter delicacies in Japan.  It is seasoned with a ponzu sauce (citrus juice and soy sauce) and grated radish with red pepper.  Ankimo tastes very creamy and rich.  According to a famous gourmet comic, "Oishinbo", ankimo was said to be superior to foie gras.  Please don't miss it at izakaya (taverns) featuring seafood or sushi-go-round restaurants in this season.
